As you can imagine, thousands and thousands of brilliant people picked up the phone to make a donation during the Sport Relief 2008 TV show on Friday 14th March.
We could never handle all these calls on our own and so we relied massively on lots of committed call centres up and down the country to take telephone donations when the phones rang red hot.
In total over 70 call centres, including a staggering 10,000 wonderful volunteers, jumped at the chance to support Sport Relief 2008. By the end of Sport Relief weekend we had raised an amazing £20 million plus!!
We’ve heard that, not wanting to miss out on the fun, many of these call centres got up to all sorts of shenanigans to raise money for Sport Relief too. Check out our interactive map to see for yourselves.
Without this incredible support we really couldn’t do what we do and we want to thank each and every call centre and volunteer who devoted their time, energy and enthusiasm to help us raise more money for Sport Relief than ever before.
Believe it or not, Comic Relief is already starting to plan and prepare for the next big campaign – the much anticipated Red Nose Day 2009 on Friday 13th March!
If your call centre has helped us in the past and would like to support us again, or even if you would like your call centre to be part of Red Nose Day for the very first time - just drop us a line at callcentres@comicrelief.com – we’ll be delighted to hear from you.
